During an appearance at the White House on Tuesday, President Joe Biden said that COVID-19 is still a “global health emergency” despite his previous insistence that the “pandemic is over.”
Biden appeared alongside doctors who are leading his administration’s efforts to stop the spread of the virus, the AP reported. The President is urging Americans to get updated COVID-19 booster shots ahead of the holiday season and, in an effort to promote the shot, Biden rolled up his sleeve and received the vaccine himself.
However, President Biden also said just a few weeks ago that the “pandemic is over” during an interview on “60 Minutes.”
