One U.S. servicemember was killed and two others were injured in southern Afghanistan on Saturday in an apparent insider attack, NATO’s Resolute Support mission said.
The two wounded servicemembers are currently being treated, but are in stable condition, the mission said in a statement. An investigation into the attack is underway.
The identity of the servicemember killed on Saturday is currently being withheld until 24 hours after the individual’s next of kin is notified.
The apparent insider attack came just over a year after three U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack by an Afghan soldier.
