Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said CNN “lost total control” of its town hall with former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, amid more widespread criticism from other Democrats over the event, where Trump repeated false claims and called host Kaitlan Collins “nasty.”
Ocasio-Cortez accused the network of being “manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim,” she tweeted, adding that CNN should be “ashamed” of the coverage.
During the hour-long program, Trump mocked E. Jean Carroll’s account of how he sexually abused her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the 1990s; he also vowed to pardon “many” of the convicted January 6 Capitol rioters, refused to accept the results of the 2020 election and said he “had every right” to take classified documents to Mar-A-Lago.
