U.N. warns of ‘breakdown of Civil order’ in Gaza

The UN warns “civil order” is breaking down in Gaza after weeks of siege and bombardment, with people breaking into warehouses in search of survival essentials. “People are scared, frustrated and desperate,” said the director of the main UN agency in the strip.
Israel says the next stage of its war with Hamas has begun after expanding its ground operations in the enclave. “The war inside Gaza is going to be long,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Saturday.
Communications have been partly restored in Gaza after being downed in heavy Israeli airstrikes. More aid is due to reach the besieged enclave but aid agencies warn it is far from enough.
Families of the more than 200 hostages in Gaza are growing increasingly fearful for their missing loved ones as Israel steps up its operations in the enclave.
