After the family moved to a new home in Seminole, Oklahoma, they decided they could no longer keep the 6-year-old Great Pyrenees mix for undisclosed reasons, KOCO reports.
Another family in the nearby town of Prague agreed to keep the dog until a local animal shelter could find her a new forever home.
Missing her previous owners, Cathleen walked 20 miles from Prague to Seminole in hopes of reuniting with them. The ambitious dog reportedly made the trip not once, but TWICE.
“Her heart wants to be with them,” the Seminole Humane Society wrote on its Facebook page, adding the family loved her “very much.”
The shelter said several people have submitted applications to adopt Cathleen, and staff members are working hard to place her in a secure and loving home.
“She’s very sweet. Very calm and docile. Friendly,” reserve animal control officer Lynzi Thompson told KOCO. “She wants to be everyone’s friend. She’s a love bug. Give her a chance. She may seem shy at first but will open up to you definitely.”
