The Kremlin is considering retaliatory measures against the US after the Obama administration announced new sanctions to punish Russia for allegedly interfering in the presidential election, a spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
Officials said Thursday that the US has ordered 35 Russian diplomats to leave the country, and imposed sanctions on six Russian officials, as well as two Russian intelligence services, the GRU and the FSB.
Three companies, which the White House accused of providing “material support” to the GRU, were also sanctioned.
A Russian parliamentary official said Washington’s decision represented “the death throes of political corpses,” Reuters reported.
